What size speakers

The main types

PA speakers are typically 8, 10, 12, or 15 inches. Generally the larger the speaker, the lower the frequencies they can handle.
 

What should we get?

Our recommendations are:
Size

Recommendation
8 inch Avoid unless these are specialist speakers used in combination with a crossover unit
10 inch Vocals or speech only
12 inch Vocals, acoustic guitar, CD player, light keyboards
15 inch Anything else.... especially if you are miking up the bass or kick drum
